Question 181: To ask the Minister for Finance if there are plans to increase and upgrade telecommunications equipment which is attached to the telecommunications mast at Shankill Garda Station; the discussions the Office of Public Works has had with telecommunications operators regarding this matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Office of Public Works is currently carrying out minor engineering work on the telecommunications mast at Shankill Garda Station with a view to ensuring that it is capable of supporting equipment which will be required for the National Garda Digital Radio Network. There is one telecommunications operator with equipment on the mast at present.
The OPW has been in discussions with other operators, who have also made requests to use the mast, but no decision has been taken in the matter.
