Question 48: To ask the Minister for Defence the discussions he has had with the Department of Education and Science with a view to having Defence Forces personnel visiting schools to outline the peacekeeping role of the Defence Forces throughout the world; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have had no specific discussions with the Department of Education and Science regarding the Defence Forces visiting schools. Defence Forces recruitment teams, on occasion, visit schools and third level institutions to provide briefings. These briefings include an explanation of the peacekeeping role of the Defence Forces throughout the world. The briefings also outline the Defence Forces involvement in previous UN missions as well as its participation in current missions.
