Question 80: To ask the Minister for Health and Children if her attention has been drawn to the fact that there is no medical card appeals officer for Dublin north at present, which has resulted in a backlog of appeals; if she will report on same and arrange for the vacancy to be filled; and if she will make a statement on the matter. As the Health Service Executive has the operational and funding responsibility for medical card assessments and appeals, it is the appropriate body to consider the particular issue raised by the Deputy. My Department has therefore requested the Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Executive to arrange to address this matter and to have a reply issued directly to the Deputy.
