Question 159: To ask the Minister for Health and Children if she will publish the report, commissioned by the Irish Health Services Accreditation Board, into the number of individual organisations regulating the quality and safety of acute care hospitals; the number of these individual organisations that are State funded; the results being achieved to date; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Deputy will be aware that the Irish Health Services Accreditation Board was subsumed into the Health Information and Quality Authority on the establishment of the Authority in May 2007. I understand that the report referred to by the Deputy was presented as a draft to the Board of the interim Authority in late 2006 to inform their deliberations on the state of regulatory bodies. I have asked HIQA to submit the report together with their observations to me as soon as possible.
