Question 533: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government further to Parliamentary Question No. 217 of 14 November 2007, the progress to date in providing a sewage treatment plant for the town of Ennis, County Clare; if his attention has been drawn to recent problems with sewage effluent in Ennis; if he will provide emergency funding to resolve this problem; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department has approved the Council's brief for the appointment of consultants to prepare Contract Documents for the scheme, subject to some amendments. I understand that the Council is now finalising the brief with view to appointing consultants as soon as possible.
