I congratulate Down Syndrome Ireland (Kerry Branch) on being the successful tenderer to operate the Deenagh Lodge coffee-shop in Killarney National Park. However it would not be appropriate for my Department to reduce a fee which has become payable on foot of an open tendering competition freely entered into by the organisation concerned. Other parties participated in the tendering process and were unsuccessful on the competitive basis involved. It would be unfair, and a breach of public procurement principles, retrospectively to alter the terms of the successful bid.
