My Department is in receipt of recent correspondence from the club in question in relation to an archaeological monument in the immediate vicinity of an area where the club proposes to develop new sporting facilities. The National Monuments Service of the Department has written to the club requesting that, before proceeding further with the development, it carry out an archaeological impact assessment to ascertain any potential impacts of the development on the monument. It has also been suggested that the club should seek advice in relation to any necessary archaeological mitigation measures that may be required.
