Question 198: To ask the Minister for Education and Science, further to Parliamentary Question No. 819 of 2 April 2008 regarding an application for a third level grant, if the person will qualify for a special rate of maintenance grant on the basis that the person believes they are in receipt of analogous payment (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. Further to my previous response I wish to advise that, for the special rate of maintenance grant, an analogous payment is considered to be a social welfare payment paid by another country which can be equated to one of the listed eligible social welfare payments in the grant schemes. As the person referred to by the Deputy has not provided information in respect of an analogous payment the decision remains unchanged since your previous Parliamentary Question No. 819 of 2 April 2008.
