Question 281: To ask the Minister for Health and Children if there is legislation currently in place governing laser eye treatment in public and private facilities; if not, her views on such legislation; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [14582/08]

At present there is no legislation in Ireland governing laser eye treatment. However, the involvement of medical practitioners in this practice is subject to the provisions of the Medical Practitioners Act and the Medical Council's guidelines.
