Question 426: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government when he will introduce legislation to allow for the sale of local authority flats by Cork City Council to its tenants; the reason for the delay in introducing this promised legislation; if such legislation is due to come before Dáil Éireann in this session; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Social Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill, currently being drafted, is expected to be published during the present Dáil session. Work on addressing the complex legal issues relating to the tenant purchase of local authority apartments is being advanced in that context.
