Question 325: To ask the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to the provision of a new school (details supplied) in County Kildare, in view of the serious concerns expressed by parents in relation to a number of factors that are seriously affecting the children and teachers at present in the existing school; if her Department has the final responsibility in relation to the health and safety factors; if so, the action her Department will take in the short term to address this matter; if the rectification of such serious issues is dependent on when the new school is to be built; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The project at the school referred to by the Deputy is at advanced stage — Stage 2b of architectural planning. (i.e. Detailed Design and Bill of Quantities).

Progression of all building projects, including the school in question will be considered in the context of my Department's multi-annual School Building and Modernisation Programme. Issues of health and safety are the responsibility of the board of management, in the first instance.
