Question 966: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if he will introduce a grant scheme to assist private dwelling owners to defray the cost of installing lime remover equipment to remove lime from water which damages domestic appliances; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Grant aid of up to €2,031.58 is available from county councils under the Rural Water Programme for the provision or necessary improvement of an individual water supply to a house that does not have access to either a public or group water scheme supply. The eligibility of individual proposals for grant purposes is a matter for the relevant local authority.
