Question 932: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if, regarding summer and winter time arrangements as agreed under EU Directive 2000/84/EC, a submission was made by his Department or other Government agency or body to the European Commission before 31 July 2007 regarding the implications of summer time arrangements for Ireland, in line with article 5 of the Directive; if consideration has been given to the extension of the summer-time period each year; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I can inform the Deputy that my Department, in accordance with EU Directive 2000/84/EC, compiled and communicated submissions in respect of this issue to the European Commission from a number of relevant Departments and semi-state bodies in July, 2007. I can also advise the Deputy that there are no plans to change the present summer-time arrangements.
