Question 221: To ask the Minister for Health and Children the action she will take to improve procedures for the procurement of information technology systems in the health service in order that one supplier is not exclusively given capital projects, thus threatening the withdrawal of other medical suppliers from Ireland. Operational responsibility for the management and delivery of health and personal social services was assigned to the Health Service Executive under the Health Act 2004. Therefore the Executive is the appropriate body to consider the particular matter raised by the Deputy. My Department has requested that the Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Executive investigate the matter and issue a reply directly to the Deputy.

Question 222: To ask the Minister for Health and Children the action she will take to improve procedures for the procurement of maintenance projects for current information technology systems in acute hospitals in order that projects are given quicker approval and not subject to budgetary pressures in such hospitals.
