Question 530: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the amount of the €300,000 allocated for pilot joint policing committees that has been drawn down by the local authorities involved; if there has been a delay in granting this money; the number of requests for funding or organisational funding received from the 29 existing JPCs; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Provision has been made in the Garda Vote and the Local Government Fund to support Joint Policing Committees. My Department and the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform are considering how best such funding may be used, having regard to the evaluation of the pilot Joint Policing Committees. Once the evaluation is completed, the committees will be extended to all local authorities and funding arrangements to support them will then be put in place. Accordingly, while two committees in the pilot programme have requested funding, no disbursements have been made in this regard to date. I am not aware that this has adversely affected the operation of the pilot programme.
