Question 519: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if he will extend motor tax concessions to flexi-fuel vehicles which have a proven lower emissions impact; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10183/08]

The current motor tax system, based on engine capacity (cc) does not distinguish between fuel types. However, the new CO2-based system, which I am introducing from 1 July 2008, will reward cars with low CO2 emissions.
