Question 478: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the situation whereby Cork City Council tenants cannot purchase their houses because of a problem with the fee simple; the contacts between Cork City Council and the Land Registry regarding a substantial mapping search in preparation for a proposed compulsory purchase order to Cork City Council of a large number of properties in the Cathedral Road area which are tenant purchase properties where Cork City Council does not have and accordingly is unable to dispose of the freehold interest; the responses the Land Registry gave to the management of Cork City Council by way of update statements regarding inquiries about the updating of the searches; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am informed by the Property Registration Authority that extensive searches have been made to try to locate an application relating to property in Cathedral Road but with no success. If the Deputy wishes to provide more specific information to the Authority, such as a folio number or dealing reference number, further searches will be made.
