Question 429: To ask the Minister for Education and Science if an appeals mechanism is available for a student who failed their leaving certificate maths exam in 2007 and wishes to re-apply as an external student to re-sit the exam but missed the deadline for same; the procedure to be followed in such cases; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The State Examinations Commission has statutory responsibility for operational matters relating to the certificate examinations, including organising the holding of examinations and determining procedures in places where examinations are conducted.
