Question 72: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Finance if he will reconsider his decision as regard introducing a VRT refund scheme for people who registered cars prior to 1 July 2008 as vehicles purchased after Budget 2008 and pre July 2008 will be taxed unfairly at the CC rate and not the CO2 rate which results in a substantial difference for most families and causes unjust financial hardship; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As I stated in reply to the Deputy's Parliamentary Question No. 177 [6226/08] on 19 February 2008, I have no plans to introduce a VRT refund scheme for people who register cars prior to 1 July 2008.
