Question 245: To ask the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the plans he has to introduce amending legislation to ensure that the Personal Injuries Assessment Board awards provide a direct payment from insurance companies to hospitals; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have no plans to amend the Personal Injuries Assessment Board legislation as proposed. The settlement of hospital bills is a matter for the patient and the hospital concerned, and the PIAB has no function in this matter.
