Question 305: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will provide in tabular form the number of freedom of information requests that have been received by his Department each year since 1997; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6951/08]

As the Deputy will be aware, the Freedom of Information Act, 1997 came into force on 21st April 1998. My Department received 306 FOI requests that year.

The figures for the subsequent years are as follows:
