Question 422: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if the use of compulsory purchase orders powers has increased since the advice of the Minister for Finance to Departments on this matter in 2005; the details of the increase; if he has secured faster release of lands and a more cost effective price for all forms of public infrastructure; and the savings secured. Pursuant to section 214 of the Planning and Development Act 2000, I have no function in relation to the compulsory acquisition of land by a local authority and consequently I have no information on the extent to which powers of compulsory acquisition are being utilised by such authorities.
