Question 385: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if, under the terms of the memorandum of understanding on information sharing arrangements between Ireland and the UK relating to sex offenders signed on 27 November 2006, An Garda Síochána is automatically notified by the PSNI when an individual convicted of a sexual offence in the Six Counties and who is subject to the provisions of the Sex Offenders Act 2001 either works in or moves to the 26 Counties and vice versa. On 27 November, 2006 a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on information sharing arrangements between Ireland and the UK relating to sex offenders was signed. In accordance with the MOU An Garda Síochána are notified by the Police Service of Northern Ireland when they become aware that a convicted sex offender is travelling or has travelled from Northern Ireland to this jurisdiction. Likewise, An Garda Síochána notify the PSNI when they become aware that a convicted sex offender is travelling or has travelled from this jurisdiction to Northern Ireland.
