Question 1059: To ask the Minister for Education and Science further to Parliamentary Question No. 235 of 28 November 2007 if an examination has been conducted as to the reason why 69% of pupils who are taught in gaelscoileanna fail to proceed to education in a school (details supplied); the reason for same is the fact there is no secondary Irish school in north Kildare; and if she will make a statement on the matter. My Department has not carried out an examination as to why all pupils from the designated feeder gaelscoileanna do not continue their second level education through the medium of Irish in the school to which the Deputy refers.
The school in question has been provided to meet the needs of pupils from a wide area including parts of Meath, Dublin and North Kildare who wish to continue their education through the medium of Irish.
