Question 888: To ask the Minister for Education and Science if the advice (details supplied) to schools not to pay the bills which they received from local authorities for outstanding water rates or charges still stands, having regard to the Government decision of 4 January 2008; and if she will make a statement on the matter. On 18th December, 2007, the advice given to schools was to hold these bills until the Government had issued a more detailed statement. A more detailed statement in January 2008 advised schools that where arrears exist on bills for water charges, schools should raise the matter with the local authority.
