Question 553: To ask the Minister for Transport the steps he proposes to advance the Navan to Dublin rail link, phase two Pace to Navan project; the revised cost of this project; if he has secured funding for this project from the Department of Finance; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Transport 21 provides, subject to compliance with the capital investment appraisal guidelines, for the construction of Phase 2 of the Navan Rail Line by 2015. The detailed planning and design of the project is a matter for Iarnród Eireann. The company that it is now proceeding, following completion of a scoping study, with the preparation of a full preliminary design and business case. However, the true cost of the project will not be known when tenders are received by the Company.
