An application for a certificate of naturalisation from the person referred to in the Deputy's question was received in the Citizenship Section of my Department on the 2 January 2007. Applications are generally dealt with in chronological order and this practice is not deviated from except in exceptional circumstances. However, I understand that a submission will shortly be made to my office for a decision on whether the case might be expedited. I will inform the Deputy and the person in question when a decision is reached on the matter.
