My Departments School Building and Modernisation Programme is divided into a number of component elements or sub programmes. These include Large Scale Building Projects (new school buildings and major extensions/refurbishments); Emergency Works; Site Acquisitions; Remediation Programmes (asbestos removal, radon mitigation); Furniture and Equipment and provision of Temporary Accommodation.
The programme this year will when completed deliver over 700 classrooms to provide permanent accommodation for over 17,500 pupils. In total, over 1,500 projects of varying scale are being delivered in schools throughout the country this year.
