Question 50: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if the Garda Commissioner has completed his consideration of the report submitted by the superintendent appointed to carry out an investigation into the circumstances in which the Garda failed to act on information supplied through Interpol from the Austrian authorities regarding the alleged involvement of people based here in a global child pornography ring; if it is intended to publish the report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am informed by the Garda authorities that the Garda officer appointed to conduct an investigation into the incident has completed his investigation and submitted a report to senior Garda management. Following consideration of the report a number of additional control mechanisms have been introduced to prevent a recurrence of such an incident. I am further informed that it is not Garda policy to publish internal reports.
