The amount spent by my Department on advertising and promotional campaigns from 2002 to 2005 inclusive is set out in the table. Information in relation to 2006 and 2007 is being compiled and will be forwarded to the Deputy as soon as possible.

Expenditure is incurred on statutory notification requirements and a range of advertising campaigns to highlight issues of relevance to my Department. A detailed breakdown of such expenditure is not available. However, while the bulk of expenditure relates to newspaper advertisements, expenditure was spread across the whole media spectrum including Iris Oifigiúil, television, radio including local radio, national and provincial papers, and other publications.

The environmental information service ENFO — provides an authoritative source of factual information on the environment and sustainable life styles through a drop-in centre, library, exhibitions, CDs and videos. The operations of ENFO are also funded by the Department.
