Question 280: To ask the Minister for Education and Science when her Department will put the 1999 Revised Curriculum 1999 into regulatory form as stated by her in comments she made to Dáil Éireann on 13 November 2007; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [30051/07]

The Education Act 1998 provides the Minister with the power to make regulations relating to a range of issues concerning the provision of education by schools.
I favour the incremental use of those regulatory powers where appropriate to replace existing rules, circulars and communications with schools. In that context it is my intention to put the primary curriculum on a regulatory footing following the necessary preparatory drafting which is currently underway in my Department.
