Based on Exchequer returns to the end of October 2007, the Departments and Agencies that are showing a capital underspend relative to the profile of monthly expenditure published in January 2007 are as follows:
Vote | Amount of underspend | % underspend |
â'¬ million | % | |
Health Service Executive | 75 | 18 |
Enterprise, Trade and Employment | 65 | 20 |
Arts, Sport and Tourism | 53 | 24 |
Office of Public Works | 27 | 11 |
Justice, Equality and Law Reform | 50 | 42 |
Foreign Affairs | 12.5 | 56 |
Communications, Energy and Natural Resources | 8 | 6 |
Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs | 7 | 9 |
Defence | 5 | 23 |
Finance | 4 | 26 |
Social and Family Affairs | 0.7 | 5 |
For completeness, the following Departments and Agencies are showing a capital overspend based on the Exchequer returns to the end of October:
Vote | Amount of overspend | % overspend |
â'¬ million | % | |
Environment, Heritage and Local Government | 283 | 24 |
Transport | 124 | 8 |
Education and Science | 85 | 17 |
Office of the Minister for Children | 20 | 32 |
Agriculture, Fisheries and Food | 17 | 10 |
Health and Children | 9 | 95 |
The position at the end of October in regard to capital underspend relative to published profile should not be regarded as a firm indication of the likely end-year position as much capital spending is traditionally profiled for the last two months of the year. Any capital carryover into 2008 will be published in the Budget Estimates.
