Question 509: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform further to Parliamentary Question No. 443 of 13 November 2007, if he will confirm that the figures given refer to applications that were refused on the specific grounds that the marriage was deemed to be fraudulent; if not, the percentage of the figures given that were refused on that basis; and the numbers of applications granted in those years. The figures provided in Parliamentary Question 443 of 13 November 2007 related to all applications for residence on the sole basis of marriage to Irish Nationals which were refused for the years 2005-2007 inclusive. All refusals are on the basis that the deciding officer is not satisfied as to the bona fides of the marriage in question, based on investigations conducted and the evidence provided. The following table includes the number of applications for residence based on marriage to Irish Nationals granted for the same three year period.
