I am informed by the Garda authorities that local Garda management is aware of anti-social behaviour in the area referred to. As a result of targeted policing of the area a number of persons have been arrested for public order offences, possession of a controlled substance and an offensive weapon.
I am further informed that the area referred to is in Clontarf Garda sub-District and is regularly patrolled by uniform and plain-clothes patrols including the District Detective and Drug Units and the Garda Mountain Bike Units supplemented by the Divisional Crime Task Force and Traffic Corps personnel. A member of the local Community Policing Unit is also allocated to this area and liaises with the local community providing crime prevention and security advice. A meeting between the Community Policing officer and residents was held recently to discuss matters of concern.
Current policing policy in the area is predicated on the prevention of crime including crimes of violence against persons and property, the prevention of public order offences and the maintenance of an environment conducive to the improvement of the quality of life of the residents. This strategy is, and will continue to be, central to the delivery of the policing service in this area.
