Question 283: To ask the Minister for Transport if consideration has been given to allowing vehicles to turn left at a red light as is the case in the United States; if a study has been carried out with regard to this by his Department or one of its agencies; and if he will make a statement on the matter. There are no proposals under consideration to amend road traffic regulations so as to permit vehicles to proceed, in any direction, while a red traffic light is displayed.
