Question 137: To ask the Minister for Health and Children, further to her reply to Parliamentary Question No. 253 of 16 October 2007, if a public hospital may charge a fee to an elderly person on a medical card for a bone scan on the basis that the scanning equipment was privately funded through a hospital foundation; and if she will make a statement on the matter. A person with full eligibility who opts to be treated as a public patient in a public hospital should not be charged. My Department has instructed the HSE to ensure that such patients are not so charged.
