Question 86: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if the Garda Superintendent appointed to carry out an investigation into the circumstances in which the Gardaí failed to act on information supplied through Interpol from the Austrian authorities regarding the alleged involvement of people based in this country in a global child pornography ring has now been concluded; if it is intended to publish the report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am informed by the Garda authorities that the Garda Chief Superintendent appointed by the Commissioner to conduct an investigation into the incident has submitted a report which is currently being considered by senior Garda management. The Deputy will appreciate that it would be inappropriate for me to comment further at this time.
