Question 287: To ask the Minister for Transport and the Marine if the Government appointed representative on the board of Aer Lingus reported to the Government prior to the announcement of the termination of the Shannon/Heathrow route; and if not, the reason for same. [23375/07]

It has been widely reported that the decision to withdraw the Shannon Heathrow service was taken by the management of Aer Lingus and not by the Board. I had no contact with the Government representative on the Board prior to the announcement of the decision.
