Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform
Question 469: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position regarding the investigation into the Dublin and Monaghan Bombings; if new developments are expected in the near future; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22775/07]
I am informed by the Garda authorities that the Garda investigation into the Dublin and Monaghan bombings of 1974 remains open and that any new lines of inquiry coming to light will be diligently pursued.
With regard to the Final Report of the Commission of Investigation into the bombings, I understand that the Department of the Taoiseach, in conjunction with other State bodies, is currently pursuing the one significant item that for legal reasons could not be reported upon, namely, an issue regarding a man who stayed in the Four Courts Hotel.
