Question 191: To ask the Minister for Transport and the Marine the position in relation to planning for the outer ring road; the role envisaged for such a motorway and its priority vis-a-vis the construction of the eastern bypass to complete the M50 circle around Dublin; his views on both of these routes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The two major road proposals referred to by the Deputy were included in the launch of Transport 21 as subjects for further feasibility study. My Department has received a report from the National Roads Authority in respect of the outer orbital route and is expecting a report on the Eastern Bypass in the near future. I will study these reports and draw them to the attention of my cabinet colleagues in due course.
