Question 158: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will confirm having received an application for leave to remain by a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath who has an Irish born child; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this is the third application made by this person; if he will take steps to have same expedited; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have been informed by the Immigration Division of my Department that an application for permission to remain in the State was received in September 2007 from the person referred to by the Deputy. There is no record of any other application being received.
I understand that the Immigration Division will be in contact with the person concerned shortly with a decision in the matter.
