Question 295: To ask the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources the percentage of Irish electricity supply generated through renewable resources; the types of renewable energy that contribute to electricity generation here; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Provisional figures supplied by Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI) estimate the contribution from renewable energy resources, including biomass, hydropower and wind-power, at 8.54% of gross electricity consumption in 2006.
