The Deputy may be aware that my Department had discussions with the Irish Vocational Education Association (IVEA) in regard to the introduction of an allowance for Chairpersons of Vocational Education Committees. Having given the matter detailed consideration, I was not prepared to agree to the introduction of such an allowance and the IVEA was informed of my decision last July. I can advise the Deputy that I have no plans to introduce such an allowance.
