Question 278: To ask the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs his plans to address the decentralisation situation arising from the fact that An Bord Pleanála has recently turned down the application for decentralised Government offices at Ireland West Airport, Knock, County Mayo. My Department has been considering the implications of the An Bord Pleanála decision with the Office of Public Works, with a view to identifying the options available and I expect to have recommendations for action shortly.
In the meantime, I want to repeat what I said publicly: the policy of decentralisation is unchanged and I remain fully committed to the decentralisation of the Department's headquarters to Co. Mayo.
