Question 1029: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if he will introduce a savings scheme for the payment of motor tax through the purchase of stamps, similar to that in operation in respect of the purchase of television licences; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Easier and more prompt payment of motor tax for motorists is being facilitated through the on-line motor tax payment service which now handles over 40% of eligible motor tax business nationally and is extremely successful in this regard. There are no proposals to introduce a savings stamp scheme for motor tax.
