Question 574: To ask the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism the amount of moneys allocated to the GAA, IRFU and the FAI respectively each year since 2002 to date in 2007; the amount of grant drawn down by each of these organisations each year; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The only means of direct funding to national governing bodies (NGBs) of sport available to my Department is through sports capital allocations. The total amount of sports capital funding allocated each year since 2002 to the three NGBs in question — as distinct from their affiliated club, county boards or provincial councils or branches, and the amounts of those grants drawn down by them in each of those years, is contained in the table.

The Irish Sports Council, which as the Deputy is aware is the statutory body responsible for the development of sport, has also provided the following funding to the three NGBs since 2002:
