Question 542: To ask the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if he has been notified of an application for works in relation to Sligo North West Airport, which would infringe on the foreshore at Dorrins and Cummeen Strand; and if he has been informed that such an application will be lodged shortly. No application under the Foreshore Acts has been received by the Department for the proposed works in relation to Sligo North West Airport Co. Ltd. Both the company and the Planning Department of Sligo County Council have been advised of the Department's requirements in relation to such an application.
The Department has been consulted by the Planning Section of Sligo County Council in relation to the company's planning application and has requested the Council to place a condition on any permission granted requiring the applicant to obtain a foreshore lease/licence prior to commencement of works.
In any event, any activity in respect of this project affecting the public foreshore will require consent under the Foreshore Acts.
