Question 170: To ask the Minister for Finance if the Office of Public Works has responsibility for the river wall (details supplied) in Dublin 3; if the OPW has responsibility for the now collapsing railings set in the river wall; if the OPW has agreed to replace these railings at the rear of just four houses; and if this matter will be reinvestigated and the work carried out. The Office of Public Works is carrying out the works on the River Tolka in the Dublin City area in conjunction with Dublin City Council. The City Council is the Authority dealing directly with the public on any issues arising. Major emergency work was previously undertaken in this general area to the flood defences which required work to attached railings. The information to hand in OPW is that there are no problems with the flood defences in this particular area and so any issues with connecting railings would be a matter for the affected property owners. However, my Officials have brought the matter to the attention of the relevant Officials in Dublin City Council and have asked that the matter be investigated.
