Question 664: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if he will provide the Environmental Protection Agency with extra resources to fulfil the role outlined in S.I. No. 106 of 2007, European Communities (Drinking Water) Regulations making it an offence if a local authority fails to comply with a direction from the Environmental Protection Agency to take specified measures to provide safe drinking water and in view of the fact that the agency's role in monitoring compliance with the integrated pollution prevention and control licensing system will increase substantially on 31 October 2007 when large industrial establishments operating before 1999 will come under its remit and that the annual report 2007 shows a fall in IPCC audits of 68% in the past two years.
