Question 549: To ask the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism if he has been asked by a company (details supplied) to contribute towards the cost of producing a film which is due to begin filming in spring 2008; if he proposes to make a contribution on behalf of the Government; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The provision of funding for film projects is a matter for the Irish Film Board. While the Film Board is a statutory body under the aegis of and funded by my Department, I do not have a direct role in the allocation of such funding by the Film Board or in the selection of projects funded.
